Scary Call From The Doctor!!

So the scariest thing happened to me! I called my doc about two weeks ago to get an appointment for a regular check-up. My med refills were out. In order to continue them I have to be seen every so often. I have high blood pressure and anxiety disorder that I take meds for. So my meds are very important. I made the appointment and saw the doc. He says my blood work hasn't been done in a long time so, time for some routine labs! No problem! Needles don't bother me much!

I assumed they would send a postcard as usual letting me know everything was normal. Then Monday someone from his office calls and leaves me a voicemail. "Yes, Dr X needs you to come in to discuss the results of your lab work. Please call us immediately to schedule".

Ok, so I set the phone in my lap. My husband looks at me. "Baby, what's wrong?"

Me: "I'm not sure. The doc's office says they need me to come in about my labs".

I dial the phone and ask for his nurse. She explains to me that I need to come in the office as soon as possible to go over my lab results. She can't tell me anything else over the phone. They put me on his schedule for this next morning.

At this point there are 3 things a person that gets a call like that should NEVER do.
1. Panic
2. Google stuff
3. Rush to conclusions

Naturally and being the mature adult that I am immediately decided to...set the phone down and full on PANIC....then I picked the phone back up and GOOGLED STUFF...(SCARY)...then of course, I promptly rushed to conclusions about what news the doctor needed to tell me in person. After all my family has been through since the beginning of 2016 this is the last thing we need. Plus, my husband is still recovering from his latest surgery! He's in no shape to care for a house full of people if it turns out I am sick in some way!

I am a nervous wreck at this point but don't want to worry the kids. I walk in to the clinic about as anxious as a person can be, check in and wait to be seen.

My doctor comes in and sits down and asks me how I'm doing. Really? I was fine till I got "the phone call".

He begins going over my labs with me. First thing, I am anemic. Not a surprise. That's happened to me many times before. Secondly, my cholesterol is awful! Yikes! That's not good! Lastly, my blood work shows I am having some sort of issues in my Endocrine system.

I start pondering. Lately I have been having some crazy stuff that's been going on with my body that I chalked up to stress and having had a baby recently. For starters my hair is falling out pretty badly. I honestly thought it might be some vitamin deficiency but apparently it's more than that.

And now I get to go see a specialist (Endocrinologist to be exact) to try and pinpoint what's going on with me. I will be glad to get it all sorted out and I sure hope it isn't anything serious!

Pray for me friends! I have a lot of little people counting on me and I sure don't want to let them down.
